Mumbai-Prediction

0:

It is the repeat of last year's finale as Mumbai and Delhi lock horns in a very crucial contest in the 2021 edition of Indian T20 League. While Rishabh Pant's side are placed comfortably in the points table and will be looking to assure their spot in play-offs with a win, it is kind of a must-win scenario for the five-time champions. With so much to play for, let us try to determine who could have a slight edge coming into the contest by considering the following factors:

1. Head-to-head record

In the 29 meetings between the two sides, Mumbai have a slight edge having won 16 out of them. Although Delhi won the contest earlier this season, Rohit Sharma's side have been the dominating of the two sides in last couple of years as they won all the 4 contests against Delhi last year.

2. UAE factor

Delhi have been the impressive of two sides, considering the performances in UAE leg of the ongoing tournament. However, Mumbai are coming to this contest on the back of a convincing win against Punjab. On the other hand, Delhi lost their previous match against Kolkata which turn the tables slightly in favour of Mumbai.

3. Form of players

Hardik Pandya and Saurabh Tiwary played crucial knocks for Mumbai in the previous match, which suddenly strengthens their middle-order which had been struggling in last few matches. On the other hand, Delhi's dismal all-round show against Kolkata would mean that the players would be under some pressure coming to this contest.

Considering the factors mentioned above, the team of the day is Mumbai.
