Rajasthan and Mumbai- two teams who are still in contention for the Indian T20 League for the final playoff spot- will be in action on Tuesday. But while the destiny of Rajasthan is pretty much in their own hands- win their remaining matches and proceed to the final four, Mumbai will have to hope that other than winning their matches over Rajasthan and Hyderabad- the Men in Pink do them a favour and beat Kolkata in their last game. Thus with this being a do or die game for either team- here is an attempt to look at which team heads into this fixture with a bit of an advantage based on the following factors:
1. Head-to-head record
Rajasthan and Mumbai have faced each other as many as 23 times in the tournament. However, there is little to choose between the two teams as Rajasthan have won 11 matches while Mumbai have won the remaining 12.
2. UAE factor
Even in UAE conditions, there is little that differentiates the two teams. Overall the sides have met twice and while Mumbai have won one occasion, the other time Rajasthan prevailed.
If these records are anything to go by, this suggests another exciting game is on the cards.
3. Recent form
Mumbai have won just one match in the UAE in Indian T20 League 2021 which seems to suggest they just have not got going. They even lost their previous match against Delhi. On the other hand, Rajasthan had their moments in the competition and will head into this game having beaten a side which are at the top of the table- Chennai.
Moreover, Rajasthan went ahead with a new-look XI in their last game and were attacking in their approach while chasing 189. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube scored quickfire half-centuries while Evin Lewis and Sanju Samson have been in great form too. The bowling may look a bit weak but they have the talent which can deliver at this stage.
On the other hand, Mumbai have struggled and none of their batters have crossed the 400-run mark this season. They have bowled well though but would need more from their batters.
Considering all these factors, the team of the day is Rajasthan.
