Preview-

Eoin Morgan led Kolkata started the second half of the Indian T20 League 2021 in a wonderful way but have lost their momentum in the last few games. Having lost two out of their previous three matches in the tournament, Kolkata would play against Hyderabad in a must-win game on October 3 if they have to stay alive for a place in the playoffs. Hyderabad, on the other hand, would step on the field without anything to lose as they are out of the playoffs race but would want to settle good combinations ahead of 2022’s mega auction and the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League.

The last time both these two teams met against each other, Kolkata had defeated Hyderabad by 10 runs as Manish Pandey’s 61* off 44 and Jonny Bairstow’s 55 off 40 went in vain in Hyderabad’s pursuit to 188. Nitish Rana scored 80 off 56 for Kolkata and their bowlers kept Hyderabad under check.

Position in Indian T20 League:

Kolkata:  Current Position: 4th (10 points in 12 matches)

Hyderabad: Current Position: 8th (4 points in 11 matches)

Team News

Kolkata: Andre Russell and Lockie Ferguson’s comeback seems doubtful after the duo sustained injuries. Russell pulled his hamstring during Kolkata’s match against Chennai on September 26, while Ferguson limped off against Delhi on September 28 and couldn’t complete his spell. The duo was out of Kolkata’s match against Punjab and Morgan informed that the team will take a call on them.

Hyderabad- Hyderabad went with the same team in their previous match against Chennai on September 3 and are likely to field the same Playing XI. However, players like Kedar Jadhav or Manish Pandey can make their place if Hyderabad opt for change.
