Team News

Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings are likely to replace an out-of-form Nicholas Pooran with a more dynamic and versatile overseas option, Moises Henriques. The inclusion of wily leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi is also on the cards. Off-spinner Jalaj Saxena was included in the last game as there were a lot of left-handed batsmen in the Delhi Capitals team, but he proved to be ineffective.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

SRH inflicted 4 changes last game and made sure Mujeeb ur Rahman pairs up with Rashid Khan at the Chepauk pitch. But Kane Williamson should ideally be in the team instead of Mujeeb to make the SRH batting order more reliable and to reduce the pressure on the two openers.

PEOPLE’S PICK FOR FANTASY

Analysis:

The over-dependence on the famed opening pair of KL Rahul and Mayank Aggarwal had costed Punjab last season and it is costing them this season too. Despite having a good middle order, the team completely banks on the top 2. Deepak Hooda has been a sensation for Punjab and his form is very vital. Nicholas Pooran has notched up scores of 0, 0 and 9 and is likely to pave way for Moises Henriques. Arshdeep Singh has been another important member of Punjab and conceded just 22 runs in his 3 overs last game and also picked up 1 wicket.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have been the most consistent team of IPL in the recent past but so far in IPL 2021, they have got off to a horrendous start. They have lost 3 matches on the trot and this is a huge concern for Hyderabad. They effected 4 changes in the last game but that did not trigger any positive effect on the match result. Kane Williamson’s exclusion has been a talking point and his presence in the middle order can do wonders for the SRH franchise, especially at a pitch like Chepauk. Johnny Bairstow scored 43 last game and looked solid but unfortunately was dismissed via hit-wicket. His presence as an opener has sent out a lot of positive vibes in the SRH performance.
