Indian wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul was chosen ahead of Rishabh Pant in the first ODI against England despite of his poor form in the T20I series. However, the 28-year-old did not disappoint as he played a fantastic unbeaten knock of 62 runs off 43 deliveries. After cementing his place for the next few ODIs ahead of Pant, KL also replaced the southpaw off the field as well.
KL Rahul is the new babysitter in Indian cricket team
Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer often comes up with the most hilarious tweets on internet. The 43-year-old has a funny comment on anything and everything happening in the world of cricket.
After Ravi Shastri posted a group photo of Indian cricketers enjoying post India's win in 1st ODI, Jaffer was quick to make a relevant observation. In the background, wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul can be seen holding the son of Hardik Pandya, Agastya. And as expected, Jaffer had a rib-tickling comment on the same. He tweeted, "Indian WK bats are always reliable babysitters," with reference to Pant's past with babysitting activities.
Rishabh Pant - The original babysitter
Jaffer's comments comes on the back of history of Indian wicketkeeper involved in babysitting. The whole thing started in 2019 when Rishabh Pant was seen holding Tim Paine's kids in Australia. The wife of Australian skipper had termed Pant as 'best babysitter' which gave rise to this funny joke.
Even Rohit Sharma had trolled Rishabh Pant once on the same. After Rohit and his wife Ritika had welcomed their first child Samaira on December 30, 2018. He had tweeted, "Heard your a good baby sitter, need one right now. Ritika will be quite happy."
The two Indian wicketkeepers have certainly displayed their all-round skills on and off the field. But jokes aside, the Men in Blue are fortunate to have two game-changing individuals in their side, fighting for the spot in side. With KL Rahul back in form, it would be interesting to see if Pant gets an opportunity to play in the remaining two ODIs.
