In a major development, Team India’s tour of New Zealand has been postponed until 2022. The tour was earlier scheduled to take place in the upcoming New Zealand summer has now been pushed back to 2022, New Zealand Cricket spokesperson confirmed. Virat Kohli-led Men in Blue were set to tour New Zealand for three ODIs as a part of Super League ahead of 2023 qualifiers of World Cup.

MIQ allocations led to the tour’s postponement

However, New Zealand will continue to host The Netherlands, South Africa and Bangladesh after the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The government has reportedly allocated MIQs for 35 personnel of the visiting teams and a total of 181 sports have been set to accommodate the traveling contingent for the teams visiting for the Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place between March 4 and April 3.

Meanwhile, New Zealand will tour India later this year after the 2021 T20 World Cup to play two-match Test series and three T20Is.

Currently, all IPL bound players are in UAE for the second leg of the tournament, starting September 19. The remaining matches of the cash-rich league will be played across three venues in UAE - Dubai, Abu Dhabi & Sharjah.
