The 12th match of the IPL 2021 will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Both the teams are coming on the back off impressive victories in their last match. Rajasthan claimed a morale-boosting win over Delhi while CSK also opened their points tally with a comfortable victory over Punjab. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top in a high-voltage contest in Mumbai on Thursday.

Team News

Rajasthan Royals

England all-rounder Ben Stokes has left the Royals bio-bubble to head back home. The 29-year-old will undergo surgery in Leeds on Monday and is expected to be sidelined for up to 12 weeks. Royals replaced Stokes with David Miller in the 2nd game and Miller turned in with a match-defining performance with his quick-fire half-century.

Chennai Super Kings

Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has completed the mandatory seven-day quarantine and will be available for this clash. Chennai have a settled team at the moment and they will rely on their all-round combination to come good once again.

Key Players

Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson is the top run-scorer for Rajasthan Royals with 123 runs at a strike rate of 186. He struck 12 fours and 7 sixes during his whirlwind knock against Punjab Kings. Samson played a blinder of an innings in his debut as captain but was dismissed cheaply against Delhi in the next match. Royals’ skipper will have added responsibility this season and the swashbuckling batsman will again be the center of attention against Chennai.

Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina has made a successful comeback to the CSK squad after missing IPL 2020 due to personal reasons. The southpaw adds the much-needed experience to the CSK batting department. Raina is one of the most reliable middle-order batsmen in the competition and his past IPL performances are a testament to this fact. However, Raina will have to do something special to fire CSK into the playoffs this season.

Chris Morris

Morris’ belligerent hitting powered Rajasthan in the death overs against Delhi and helped them get over the finishing line in the 20th over. The all-rounder was hitting sixes at will and he will again play a big role against CSK with his all-round skills.
