Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fans can breathe a sigh of relief as their favourite player AB de Villiers will be back soon in the RCB camp. The South African cricketer has made an announcement just before the mega auction that has created a buzz around cricket fans. De Villiers has indicated that he will be back with RCB but in a new role probably.

De Villiers had retired from all forms of cricket in November putting an end to his 10-year long association with the Karnataka-based franchise. He played 156 games for RCB over 10 seasons and amassed over 4000 runs. However, the Protea batter has expressed his desire to build new innings with the franchise.

In a recent interview, De Villiers talked about his future plans and how is looking forward to helping young cricketers. “I still believe that I have a role to play in SA cricket and also over there in the IPL with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB),” he was quoted as saying by ‘Times LIVE’. de Villiers further explained that he is not sure about the role he wants to play and whether it will be professional or casual.

“I have no idea what will come next but I will take it one day at a time and see. No one knows about it and hopefully, I can look back one day in the future knowing that I have made a big difference in the lives of a few players. That is my focus for now and I don’t know if it’s going to be professional or on a casual basis, but we will see where we go with that,” he added.

RCB will be thrilled to have de Villiers back in the dugout

It will be a really good option for RCB to bring AB de Villiers back. His 10-year long stint with the team will come in handy when he will be given a role in the management. RCB Head coach Sanjay Bangar had hinted at having de Villiers as the batting coach of the team going forward. However, there has been no official talk around the same but with mega auctions a month away, RCB management will be prompt to get de Villiers occupied.
