The 2022 season has brought on many changes in the tournament. A new format was introduced where ten teams were divided into two virtual groups. The league stage of the IPL will be played in the Mumbai-Pune region in four stadiums. While there were reports that playoffs will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahemadabad.
The season started on 2 April when the Chennai Super Kings took on the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium. A lot of fans and cricket expersts have pointed out newly appointed captain Ravindra Jadeja’s tactics as one of the key reasons for their downfall. Recently while speaking to the post-match interview after losing against the Punjab Kings, Jadeja talked about his approach towards captaincy and expressed that former captain MS Dhoni had informed him about the change in the roles two months ago.
He said, "I have been preparing since Dhoni bhai told me a few months ago for captaincy – mentally I was ready to lead and I don’t have pressure. Dhoni bhai does give his inputs. We are lucky to have him," Jadeja said. "I am only following my instinct. I was preparing for that. Mentally, I was prepared to lead. I don’t have any pressure on me. I was looking to back up my instincts; I was thinking of going with whatever thoughts came into my mind."
