England's Ben Stokes and West Indies Chris Gayle are among the notable players who have decided against giving their name for the IPL 2022 Player Auctions. The mega auction is scheduled to be held on February 12 & 13 in Bengaluru. While Stokes wants to shift his attention to England’s Test preparations post the Ashes debacle, 42-year-old Gayle might have already played his final IPL game. Mitchell Starc, Sam Curran, Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes are other notable absentees from the event.

Indian Premier League 2022 is not very far away. This time there will be a total of 10 ten teams participating in the tournament. Apart from the existing eight teams, Lucknow and Ahmedabad are the new franchises this season. Ahead of the mega auction, Lucknow and Ahmedabad confirmed their three draft picks on Friday evening. While Lucknow have signed KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and Ravi Bishnoi, Ahmedabad picked Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill.

1,214 players register for IPL 2022 Player Auction

A total of 1214 cricketers which include 270 capped and 312 uncapped players, have given their names for the auction. The players list consists of 270 capped, 903 uncapped and 41 Associate players. A total of 33 Players have been retained / picked ahead of the Player Auction. The existing 8 IPL Franchises have retained a total of 27 players while the 2 new IPL teams have picked 6 players ahead of the Auction.
