The four-time champions Chennai Super Kings have finally managed to register their first win of IPL 2022 as they defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 23 runs. The Yellow army had another disappointing start to their innings as they lost Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali cheaply. But then it was the Robin Uthappa-Shivam Dube show as the duo posted a massive partnership of 165 runs.

Uthappa was then dismissed for 88 but Dube continued slogging as he ended the game with 95 runs off 46 balls. CSK also had a great start with the ball as they took four wickets in the first seven overs as Maheesh Theekshana was on fire. Then the RCB lower batting order went for a final flurry led by Shahbaz Ahmed’s 41 with DK and debutant Suyash Prabhudessai scoring 34 each. But Bangalore fell short by 23 runs and lost their second game in the tournament.

Here are some highlights from the game:

1. Robin - Shivam partnership

Both Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube were the top batters for CSK in the tournament so far. But against RCB they took their game to next level with a 165-run partnership which is the highest in the tournament so far. CSK were 60-2 at the end of 10 overs when these two turned on the after-burners to propel them towards a total of 216.

2. Dube’s inspiring 95 not-out

After having the worst start to their season, the Yellow Army needed someone to have a magical performance that will bring a massive shift in the team’s morale and that person was Shivam Dube. He went out in the middle of a difficult situation and smashed everything in sight as he scored 95 of 46 balls with eight sixes and five fours.

3. Maheesh Theekshana’s magical spell

After posting a massive total of 216, CSK still had a lot to do as their bowling hasn’t been the best throughout the tournament. But against RCB, Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana caught fire and ran through the top order. Playing in his second IPL match, Theekshana ended with four wickets while giving away 33 runs.

4. Suyash Prabhudessai’s promising 34 & brilliant run-out

Hailing from Goa, Suyash Prabhudessai finally made his IPL debut after being with RCB for over two years. The youngster was put in a difficult situation in the first game as the team was chasing a massive total. But he didn’t disappoint as he scored 34 off 18 balls with five fours and one six.
