The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is into its second half. All ten teams have played at least seven games and the points table has Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad acquiring the top two positions respectively. While Gujarat have six wins out of seven games, Hyderabad have five. Now, the two teams will take on each other on Wednesday evening to decide who continues their dominance in the tournament.
In their previous meet this season, Hyderabad had emerged victorious. They had easily chased down 163 on the back of batting heroics from Kane Williamson and others. Now, Gujarat will seek revenge for their defeat while Hyderabad will just look to ride on the momentum, they currently have with them. But what do numbers say? Who will win the crucial moments in the game? Let’s find out.
1. Toss Prediction
When it comes to winning the toss, no captain is near Kane Williamson. The SRH skipper has won all seven tosses this season and this has been probably a big factor in Hyderabad’s improved performance. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya has won three out of last five tosses. So, clearly, SRH have an edge over GT and they are expected to win the toss in Match 40 of IPL 2022.
2. Win Possibility
Both teams have been performing consistently this season. While GT have won four of their last five games, SRH have won all five. SRH have the momentum with them while GT have the arsenal. Although Hyderabad beat Gujarat in their last meet, the Hardik Pandya-led team is expected to settle scores when the two teams meet on Wednesday.
3. Team of the Day
Looking at the kind of players both teams have, Gujarat have a certain edge over Hyderabad with proven match-winners in the hut.
4. Powerplay Score
The average powerplay score at Wankhede Stadium in IPL 2022 has been 43.5. The average runs scored by SRH in this IPL has been 39.1 while Gujarat have managed to score 45.4 runs in the first six overs. So, the powerplay score for GT in Match 40 is expected to be over 45 runs while for SRH it’s expected to remain below 40 runs.
5. Average first innings and second innings score
The average first inning score at Wankhede Stadium in IPL 2022 has been 186.2 while the average second inning score has been 170.
