Match number 51 of the Indian Premier League will see Gujarat turn up against Mumbai in what promises to be an exciting clash. Mumbai may have had a horror start after losing 8 matches in a row but are coming into this game on the back of a win against one of the consistent teams in Rajasthan.

Similarly, Gujarat may have been the team to beat in the competition but they lost their last match against Punjab and things could change pretty quickly in this format.

Ahead of the two sides’ scheduled meeting on Friday, here is what numbers suggest could happen in this fixture.

1. Toss Prediction

Gujarat have won 6 out of 10 tosses which means a 60 per cent toss winning rate for them in IPL 2022. Meanwhile, Mumbai have won 5 out of 9 tosses this season which means a 55.55 toss winning rate. So Gujarat are expected to win this toss.

2. Win Possibility

There is no head-to-head record between these two teams. So the current form is all that is available to make a prediction. Due to this limitation, Gujarat appear to be the runaway favourites to win this as they have been the more consistent team without a doubt and have produced the results for everyone to see. The Hardik Pandya-led team are placed number 1 on the points table while his ex-team Mumbai are right at the bottom of the ladder.

3. Team of the Day

The Team of the Day is Gujarat and they should be able to bounce back from their loss against Punjab in this match.

4. Powerplay Score

The average powerplay score in IPL 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium, which is the venue for this match, is 52.4. Mumbai have had their top-order woes and so could end up with less than 50 runs. Gujarat though have looked positive ever since Wriddhiman Saha has been drafted at the top of the order although Shubman Gill has lost form. So even they could find it difficult to cross 50 in the first six overs.

5. Average first innings and second innings

The average first innings score at Brabourne in IPL 2022 is 174.09. Meanwhile, the average second innings score is 164.45.
