In match number 12 of the Indian Premier League 2022, it will be the Lucknow Super Giants up against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Both the teams faced a defeat in their opening matches respectively. While SRH succumbed to a loss against Rajasthan, Lucknow had a losing start to their IPL journey in their first-ever match against fellow debutants Gujarat Titans. But Lucknow opened their account in IPL 2022 with 6-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings in their next match.
This will be the fourth game of the season at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai. Dew has played a big role in the games so far with batting becoming easier as the game progresses. As a result, the teams batting second get a significant advantage and that trend is set to continue here.
Lucknow Super Giants-
Lucknow Super Giants had a good start to their campaign. Lucknow openers KL Rahul (40) and Quinton de Kock (61) both batted superbly against CSK and their opening partnership paved the way for Evin Lewis (55*) as the Caribbean batter played some eye-catching shots. Ayush Badoni (19*) also helped LSG cross the finishing line, with three balls to spare. The way Deepak Hooda, Evin Lewis and Ayush Badoni have performed has been a huge plus for the team. In addition, they were without some of their players like Jason Holder in the first two matches and his inclusion is only going to strengthen the side.
Probable Playing XI-
KL Rahul (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Evin Lewis, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Jason Holder, Dushmantha Chameera, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan
SRH would want to come back on the winning track after they had a poor day in the office as they lost by a big margin. They lost wickets early while Rajasthan’s mammoth total of 210 and were never in the game from thereon. SRH top order was disappointing as they collapsed to 14/3 after the powerplay and their batters will need to perform better in this game. The franchise has officially lodged a protest against the third umpire’s decision to give Kane Williamson ‘out’ in the match against Rajasthan Royals. SRH are likely to make changes to their side with Marco Jansen, Kartik Tyagi and Glenn Phillips now available for selection.
Probable Playing XI
Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, Kane Williamson (c), Nicholas Pooran/ Glenn Phillips (wk), Aiden Markram, Abdul Samad, Washington Sundar, Romario Shepherd, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Umran Malik/ Kartik Tyagi
Lucknow Super Giants are a settled unit and have the right mixture of talent and experience in their squad. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad delivered a disjointed performance in their first game despite having plenty of resources at their disposal. So, LSG are the favourites to win this game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
