Punjab Kings beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by five wickets in the 3rd match of the ongoing IPL 2022 at DY Patil Stadium on Sunday. After being invited to bat first, skipper Faf du Plessis (88 off 57), Virat Kohli (41 not out off 29) and Dinesh Karthik (32 not out off 14) took Royal Challengers Bangalore to a good total of 205-2 in 20 overs. Rahul Chahar (1/22) and Arshdeep Singh (1/31) took one wicket each for Punjab Kings.
The top three batters of Punjab Kings, skipper Mayank Agarwal (32), veteran Shikhar Dhawan (43) and Sri Lanka batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa (43) played fluent knocks and put Punjab on the front foot. While middle-order batters Shahrukh Khan (24) and Odean Smith (25) remained unbeaten and helped Punjab cross the finishing line with one over to spare and five wickets in hand.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj (2/59) was the highest wicket-taker for RCB but he also conceded the most runs for his team in the match. Punjab Kings jumped to second spot with two points and a net run rate of +0.697. While RCB occupy the fifth spot with zero points and a net run rate of -0.697.
