Venue: Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai

Delhi Capitals will leave behind the COVID-19 scare in their camp when they take on Punjab Kings on Wednesday evening at Brabourne Stadium. Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh will miss the game after testing Covid positive along with three others in the coaching staff. Both the teams had an unlikely result in their last outings as Capitals were defeated by Royal Challengers Bangalore, while Hyderabad outplayed Punjab Kings. An encounter between both will surely be a humdinger of clashes.

Pitch Report:

Brabourne's surface has been high-scoring ground so far, but with fewer possibilities of dew, it will not be so easy for batters to score big. Bowlers may pose some notable contributions to the game.

Team Analysis:

Punjab Kings:

The Punjab franchise is likely to be bolstered by the return of regular skipper Mayank Agarwal, who missed the game against Hyderabad due to a toe injury. Shikhar Dhawan played at the best of his potential against Mumbai Indians, but his consistency has been a major concern. The southpaw will be looking to regain his momentum in a game against Delhi Capitals. The opening pair of Dhawan and Mayank can pose a stiff challenge to Delhi bowlers. Jonny Bairstow, Odean Smith and Jitesh Sharma need to be consistent, while Liam Livingstone showed his skills in the last game and will look to carry on the same form. Vaibhav Arora, Arshdeep Singh and Rahul Chahar will have to play their best game against Delhi Capitals in the bowling department.

Delhi Capitals:

Rishabh Pant-led side has not looked too threatening, and two wins from five games do not justify their potential in camp. David Warner and Prithvi Shaw have been providing a solid start to their side, but in a game against Punjab, Kings will have to do something out of the box. Warner heads into the game on the back of a 38-ball 66 against RCB and has provided the team with flamboyance at the top. Shaw, too, has scored back-to-back fifties but had a failure in the last game. For Delhi, a lot will also rest on how Pant performs. He looked in his element when he made a 17-ball 34 against RCB, but a real big knock is yet to come. In the absence of Marsh, they would need to suitably find a number three and Mandeep Singh or Sarfaraz Khan could be an option. A lot will depend on the performance of Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav and Muztafizur Rahman, who has been leaking too many runs.

Match Prediction:

Conclusion:

Both the team have been struggling to find the momentum in the current edition and will look to bounce back. But, Punjab Kings seem to have a slight edge over Delhi Capitals given the consistency amongst their batter and strong middle-order; prediction indicated that Punjab would win the game.
