Preview

The El Clasico of the Indian Premier League will be finally played on 21 April, after 26 days and 32 matches. Not just fans of both teams but IPL fans around the country wait throughout the year to see the battle of two heavyweights of the league. However, this year it is a bit different. Both teams are languishing at the bottom of the table and have failed to leave an impact on any of the games played so far. While Mumbai are still searching for their first win, Chennai have won only one. It will be interesting to see if Mumbai open their account against arch-rivals Chennai.

Pitch Report

The pitches at DY Patil Stadium have been on the high-scoring side from the start. Batters have enjoyed their time in the middle while bowlers have failed to impress. So, the Thursday game will be another high-scoring game considering the bowling attack of both sides.

Team Analysis

Mumbai Indians:

The five-time champions are struggling big time in IPL 2022. They are yet to register a win as they have lost six games on the trot. The Thursday game will be another opportunity for Mumbai to open their account, but they will be once again worried about their bowling lineup. Also, the opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan has not worked so far, and MI management will have a look into that. Dewald Brevis at no.3 has played some fine knocks but the 18-year-old will need to play a big and sensible knock. Kieron Pollard is another worry for MI as the all-rounder is failing continuously. MI are not known for making big changes but the demand of the situation may compel them.

SportsTiger Playing XI of MI

Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Dewald Brevis, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Fabian Allen, Jaydev Unadkat, Mayank Markande, Jasprit Bumrah, Riley Meredith

Chennai Super Kings:

Chennai Super Kings have not come good as well in this edition of the Indian Premier League. Their bowling has been a bigger concern than batting. With Ruturaj Gaikwad back in form, CSK will not make any changes in the batting lineup. Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, Robin Uthappa; all are doing their respective jobs. In the bowling department, Chris Jordan's form looks worrisome for CSK. He may make way for Dwaine Pretorious.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Robin Uthappa, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja (c), MS Dhoni (wk), Dwayne Bravo, Dwaine Pretorius, Maheesh Theekshana, Mukesh Choudhary

Match Prediction

Conclusion

Although both teams have looked pale, Chennai look like a better team as compared to Mumbai.
