Match number 35 of the Indian Premier League will see Kolkata Knight Riders taking on the Gujarat Titans. While Kolkata haven’t been as consistent as they would have liked and have won 3 matches out of their 7, Gujarat are the table-toppers at the moment and have lost just one match so far. The meeting of both the teams on Saturday looks to be a thrilling affair with Kolkata showing a lot of courage in their run chase against Rajasthan Royals earlier this week.

Pitch Report:

The wickets in the IPL have been great. They have produced some thrilling fixtures. Moreover, there has been an even contest between the bat and the ball. The pitch is expected to be a similar one for this fixture. However, dew has been on the minds of the captains which is the reason the captains winning the toss have been opting to bowl first. That trend is expected to continue.

Team Analysis

Kolkata Knight Riders:
The Men in Purple might have lost their last match against Rajasthan Royals but the game could have gone either way as they eventually ended with 210, chasing 218. Their bowling seems to be a cause of concern as they have leaked a few more runs than they would have liked.

Having said that, they could still stick with the same bowling combination of Sunil Narine, Pat Cummins, Shivam Mavi, Umesh Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy as their frontline bowlers and Andre Russell as their sixth option.

Venkatesh Iyer hasn’t given his best with the bat and nor has been used with the ball yet & could continue to get the backing after being tried in the middle order in their last match.

Gujarat Titans:
There has to be little doubt that surprisingly Gujarat Titans have been one of the most consistent sides in this edition of IPL. They have somehow managed to stitch wins together and have found a different match-winner whenever their team has looked down and out.

David Miller’s return to form could be a huge positive for the team management but it is the form of Vijay Shankar that could be bothering Hardik Pandya. Meanwhile, the captain himself is set to be back after missing out on the last match due to a groin injury. Yash Dayal is expected to make way for him in the XI.

Match Prediction

On current form, Gujarat seem to be the favourites to win this game. They are the table-toppers and have been the team to beat so far. On the other hand, Kolkata haven’t got going in recent games and Gujarat could prove to be a tough mountain to climb for them.
