It will be a battle of table-toppers when Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad meet at the Wankhede Stadium in Match 40 of IPL 2022. After starting slow, Sunrisers Hyderabad have shown some great game awareness to notch up five wins on the trot and climb to the second spot in the points table. On the other hand, Gujarat Titans have also been the team to beat this season. They have six wins in seven games. Notably, the only loss for Gujarat came this season against Hyderabad when they last met. This will play on both teams' minds making the contest even more interesting.
The Wankhede pitch is a bit on the slower side as compared to the other three venues of IPL 2022. However, the last game played here was on the higher-scoring side. But still, the pitch will be on the slower side and expected to aid spinners a bit. Batters who play anchor will enjoy batting on the pitch though.
The Hardik Pandya-led team has done immensely well and the reason behind has been the captain himself. Pandya has stepped up on every opportunity that he has got. Even in the last game against Kolkata, Pandya anchored the innings and scored a brilliant half-century. However, too much dependency on Pandya can also be costly for Gujarat. Shubman Gill's consecutive failures is not doing any good for GT. Also, the table-toppers are lacking a good finisher. There is not much concern in the bowling department though.

The 2016 champions have shown remarkable progress to acquire the No.2 position in the points table. Abhishek Sharma returning among run charts has turned SRH's fortunes. Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram have also performed consistently in the middle order. SRH's bowling has never been a concern and 2022 season is no exception. Even with new faces in the team, Hyderabad have continued with the ball. Toss has also played a great role for SRH as they have won all of them this season.

Abhishek Sharma, Kane Williamson (c), Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Shashank Singh, J Suchith, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Marco Jansen, Umran Malik, T Natarajan
Although SRH are on a winning spree, Gujarat Titans have enough arsenal to stop them.
