Preview:

Delhi Capitals will lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday. The two sides have met once before in this season and on that occasion, it was Delhi who had emerged victorious. Will Kolkata manage to avenge that defeat or will Delhi once again prove to be the better team out of the two? We shall find out once the action begins at 7:30 pm IST on April 28.

Pitch Report:

As the tournament has reached its midway stage, some of the wickets are getting slower. What that means is that stroke-making is getting a bit difficult. Having said that batters have still managed to pile on runs after seeing through the initial phase which offers assistance to the new-ball bowlers. Spinners will also come in handy. Dew hasn't been that big a factor in recent games but captains are still looking to bowl first.

Team Analysis

Delhi Capitals:

The Capitals haven't played their best game yet and would most likely want it to come against Kolkata from where they can take off before it's too late. Rishabh Pant himself hasn't scored as many runs as he would like and only their openers look strong and confident. However, Prithvi Shaw would want to convert his starts and fifties into bigger scores, giving an opportunity for others to bat around him.

Khaleel Ahmed and Kuldeep Yadav have been the best bowlers for the team and the franchise would hope that others like Mustafizur Rahman and Shardul Thakur up their game prior to this encounter.

Kolkata Knight Riders:

Kolkata Knight Riders have not been able to show consistency so far in IPL 2022. They have lost four matches in a row and would be eager to get a win under their belt in this match against Delhi Capitals. Shreyas Iyer has been their leading run-getter but again much like the team, the captain also hasn't been able to show consistency.

Their top-order hasn't got going which has been a huge concern and the team management might be tempted to give another chance to Ajinkay Rahane with Venkatesh Iyer repeatedly failing despite changing his batting position. Tim Southee hasn't given the team's think tank to leave him whenever he has got a chance and could play a pivotal role in this game against David Warner and Prithvi Shaw.

Match Prediction

Conclusion:

With Delhi having a better win percentage this season and having already won a game against Kolkata earlier this season, seems like the Rishabh Pant-led side might have a little edge over their rivals on Thursday.
