Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians will face off in match number 44 of the Indian Premier League. It has been a very different kind of season for both Rajasthan and Mumbai. While the inaugural champions have been one of the more consistent teams of this edition and consequently find themselves at the second position in the points table, Mumbai have failed to win a single match so far in IPL 2022. The two teams will lock horns at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
The wickets in IPL 2022 so far have been extremely sporting. Pacers, spinners and batters all had their moments in the matches played in the tournament so far. Expect a similar kind of surface on Saturday with the captain winning the toss likely to opt to bowl first as has been the trend.
What a season the Rajasthan Royals are having. The main architects of a great so far have been Jos Buttler with the bat and Yuzvendra Chahal with the ball. The Men in Pink in fact seem to have one of the best bowling attacks in the competition with Prasidh Krishna, Trent Boult, Ravichandran Ashwin and Chahal bowling in tandem. Moreover, even Riyan Parag proved his utility with the bat in the last game, ending the team’s concern in the lower middle order.
Nothing has worked well for Mumbai Indians. The form of teenager Tilak Varma has been one of the rare positives for their team. Their bowling hasn’t performed at all and hence they have roped in Dhawal Kulkarni to add some experience. Captain Rohit Sharma must take it upon himself to bat deep into the innings and carry forward the good starts that he has been getting.
With the Hitman playing the anchor role, stroke makers like Dewald Brevis, Suryakumar Yadav, Varma and Kieron Pollard can perform their respective roles to perfection. The form of Ishan Kishan has also been a huge concern for the five-time champions after they roped him for a whopping 15.25 Crore at the auctions.
Mumbai haven’t got any momentum whatsoever and even if their batting delivers, their bowling looks weak in comparison to the Rajasthan Royals attack who have got both form and momentum on their side. Jasprit Bumrah has pretty much been a lone warrior and would need to play his best game which is only possible if he gets good support from other bowlers. Having said that, Rajasthan appear to be the better unit of the two and are predicted to win this match.
