Pitch Report:

Before the RCB - PBKS game, the average first innings score at the DY Patil stadium in the last seven IPL matches was 143. While the highest chase at the ground was 188 by the Pune Warriors in 2011. But in the last game, all these records were broken as Banglore put 205 runs which was chased down by Punjab with an over to spare.

Team analysis

Royal Challengers Bangalore:

In the mega auction, RCB had built one of the best teams in the tournament. They had a great mix of youth and experience and key players in all departments. This team continued performing well in the first innings but fumbled the game with their bowling. Their top two bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Harshal Patel went for a lot runs causing them the match. But the biggest positive for RCB was Virat Kohli’s return to form as he scored a smooth 29-ball 41 with one four and two sixes.

Probable playing XI

Faf du Plessis (c), Virat Kohli, Anuj Rawat, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Sherfane Rutherford, Shahbaz Ahmed, Wanindu Hasaranga, David Willey, Harshal Patel, Siddarth Kaul, Mohammed Siraj

Kolkata Knight Riders:

After a near-successful 2021 IPL, the Kolkata Knight Riders have built a decent team for the 15th season. Consequently, the results were visible as they defeated the defending champions Chennai Super Kings in a convincing fashion. KKR started potently with the ball as Umesh Yadav ran through the Chennai top order. Then Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy put on the screws as they allowed only 38 runs in their eight overs. In the second innings, batters carried on the momentum and chased the target comfortably with six wickets in hand and nine balls to spare.

Probable playing XI

Venkatesh Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer (c), Nitish Rana, Sam Billings, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Sheldon Jackson (wk), Umesh Yadav, Shivam Mavi, Varun Chakaravarthy.

Match prediction

Conclusion:

The Kolkata Knight Riders could win this match as they have a settled team and are coming after a victory. Similarly, they have two world-class and in-form spinners who could trouble the RCB batting.
