Preview:

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have kept their playoff hopes alive with two back-to-back convincing victories over Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad. They thumped SRH in their last game by 54 runs. Now, they have Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to face who are coming on the back of a humiliating loss to Rajasthan. The KL Rahul-led team failed to chase 178 and were handed a 24-run defeat. Although LSG have one foot into the play-offs, they would like to get a ‘Q’ against their name after facing KKR. So, it will be an exciting battle with both teams desperate for a win.

Pitch Report:

The DY Patil Pitch has been easier to bat on as compared to Wankhede. However, with a lot many games played here, the pitches have started tiring down. In the last match played at this venue, spinners enjoyed a bit of help. So, KKR vs LSG is also expected to be a corker with both batsmen and bowlers getting some help from the pitch in different situations.

Team Analysis

Kolkata Knight Riders:

Two of the regulars of the playing eleven in the KKR camp, Ajinkya Rahane, and Pat Cummins, have been ruled out of the tournament with injuries. Nonetheless, the team has done well in the last two games and will be high on confidence. But the Shreyas Iyer-led team has had its fair share of worries. Venkatesh Iyer once again failed at the top of the order. Shreyas Iyer has just failed to live up to the expectations while Nitish Rana has blown hot and cold. If KKR are to win against Lucknow, they need to sort this issue with the middle order. With no Rahane, Baba Indrajith may get a callback. Else, the team is expected to be the same as last game.

Lucknow Super Giants:

With two losses on the trot, LSG find themselves in a spot of bother. The KL Rahul-led side needs to win against KKR at any cost to avoid any last moment hiccup. LSG’s top order failed to deliver in both of the games they lost. This will be the first thing they would want to get right. The second thing that has not sat well with experts and fans is Marcus Stoinis' batting position. Even against Rajasthan, he was sent too late which cost LSG the game. KL Rahul has hinted at promoting Stoinis. Ayush Badoni’s consistent failures with the bat are not helping LSG either. The young batter bagged a golden duck against Rajasthan. However, it seems he will retain his place in the eleven.

SportsTiger Playing XI of LSG

KL Rahul (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Jason Holder, Dushmantha Chameera, Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, Ravi Bishnoi

Match Prediction

Conclusion

Lucknow don’t have the momentum with them while KKR do. So, the Shreyas Iyer-led KKR will be the favorite to take home Wednesday's clash.
