Evin Lewis and Quinton De Kock shine with the bat as Lucknow Super Giants opened their account in IPL 2022 with 6-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings, who have lost their first two matches of an IPL season for the first time. CSK set up a challenging total of 210 as Robin Uthappa smashed a 27-ball 50 while Shivam Dube scored an aggressive 49 off 30 balls. On a wicket where most bowlers struggled, youngster Ravi Bishnoi bowled his 4 overs for 24 runs, picking 2 wickets.
Lucknow openers KL Rahul (40) and Quinton de Kock (61) both batted superbly and their opening partnership paved the way for Evin Lewis (55*) as the Caribbean batter played some eye-catching shots. Ayush Badoni (19*) also helped LSG cross the finishing line, with three balls to spare. The turning point of the match came when Lewis and Badoni smashed Shivam Dube for 25 runs in the penultimate over to take the match away from CSK.
