Mumbai Indians are the most successful franchise in the history of the Indian Premier League in terms of titles. They have five titles to their name.

With the next edition of the IPL beginning in less than two months, let's have a look at Mumbai Indians, a team who would be wanting to win their 6th title this year.

ABOUT THE FRANCHISE :

Mumbai Indians is the most successful team in the IPL having 5 trophies to their name. In 2017, the Mumbai Indians became the first franchise to cross the $100 million mark in brand value among the IPL franchises.

TEAM HISTORY :

Mumbai Indians might have not have been a strong and dedicated team in the first few years of the IPL. Things took a turn when Rohit Sharma joined MI back in 2011 and when handed captaincy in 2013 Rohit Sharma led MI to their first-ever title win and then they kept on winning it every alternate year since then like 2015, 2017, 2019 and this pattern came to an end when they won back to back trophies in 2019 and 2020 by winning consecutive trophies. Although last year they ended on a disappointing note by finishing 5th and not qualifying for the PLAYOFFS.

TEAM OWNER :

The franchise is owned by India’s biggest conglomerate Reliance Industries.

TEAMS SKIPPER:

Back in 2008 when the IPL started Sachin Tendulkar led the team for four seasons after which the captaincy was passed to Harbhajan Singh in 2012. He only captained the team for one season after which Rohit Sharma was made the captain in 2013 and he changed the fortunes of MI since then which did not give MI any reasons to change their captain ever again.

They would also look to get back their players who have played an important part in the team like Trent Boult and Quinton de Kock .
