Ahead of IPL 2022, the big talking point in the country has been the conduct of mega auctions. With the entry of two new franchises, the whole dynamics of the tournament has changed drastically and all the sides are waiting eagerly for the auctions to build their squads for next season. However, there has been a lot of uncertainty regarding the organization of the event.

Mega auction to clash with India-West Indies ODI match

After it was reported that the event will finally be conducted on February 7-8, the latest update by Cricbuzz states that the final dates of the mega auctions will be Feb 12-13 in Bengaluru. Although the event is clashing with India-West Indies ODI match, BCCI have notably confirmed that they are likely to go ahead with the mentioned dates.

"It has been clarified to us that the match and auction are two different things and both will go ahead," a franchise official told Cricbuzz after obtaining clarification from the BCCI.

Around 200-250 players likely to go under the hammer

It is going to be one of the biggest ever IPL auction ever in recent times. No franchise has more than 4 players currently in their squads which just reflects how exciting the upcoming event could prove to be for the cricket fans.

Notably, BCCI have asked the international boards and state associations to submit the list of players who wish to take part in the auctions by January 17. The list, which could feature around 1000 players, will be further cut down as per the demands of all the franchises. In the end, around 200-250 players are likely to go under the hammer.
