Yuzvendra Chahal has been facing a purple patch in his career for a while now. His form in white-ball cricket has been on and off for the past few months. As a result of his dipping form, he was left out of the T20 World Cup squad and then was also left out of RCB's retention list. Thus, Chahal is all set to go under the hammer only for the second time since his IPL debut. He has placed him in the 2 crores bracket for the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions.
However, Chahal is also aware of the fact that franchises will go after him in the mega auctions, and he may get way more than his base price. So, the right-arm leggie has made it a bit easier for the franchises by hinting at the amount he wants them to pay for him to avail his services for the next three years. In a chat show 'DRS with Ash' with teammate R Ashwin, Chahal talked about the team he wants to play for and the bid amount he is expecting against his name.
When asked about how much amount he is expecting from franchises, Chahal said that he doesn't want 15 cr or 17 cr. He is more than happy with 8 cr. "I don't want to say that I want 15 cr or 17 cr, you know, 8 cr is enough for me! (smiles)" said Chahal.
I am ready to play for any team: Chahal
While talking about the team he wants to play for, Yuzvendra Chahal said that he is now ready to play for any team. Although he wants RCB to get him back, Chahal is unsure if that would be possible. "It's the first time where I feel I can go anywhere because there's no Right to Match (RTM) card. The last time (2018), RTM was available, and they (RCB) had told me clearly that they'll buy me using RTM in the auction no matter what... But this time, seriously, as a professional player, I am ready to go to any team," said the 31-year-old. "Obviously, I want to go to RCB because I've been there for 8 years but it's not like if I go somewhere else I'll feel bad," added Chahal.
The right-arm leggie who has the ninth-most number of wickets in the IPL (139) promises to give his 100% to whichever franchise he plays for. "Whichever team takes me, I'll keep giving my 100%. It will take some time to adjust to a new franchise but that's why we call ourselves professional players," he added.
