Rajasthan Royals all-round performance with the bat and ball has helped them to defeat Mumbai Indians by 23 runs and win two games on trot in IPL 2022. MI winning the toss as expected opted to field first but post that Rajasthan dominated the game in most parts of 1st innings as Jos Buttler smashed a thumping century while Shimron Hetmyer's quickfire 35 from 14 balls lifted RR's total to 193/8. Skipper Sanju Samson's 82-run partnership with Jos Buttler also played a crucial role to keep the scoreboard ticking without any hiccup regularly. Among bowlers, only Bumrah looked impressive for MI against this Royals side as he ended up with bowling figure of 3/17 while rest of them like Pollard, Murugan Ashwin and Basil Thampi were too expensive.

Mumbai were looking pretty comfortable to chase this total while Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma had a smooth sailing 81-run partnership for 3rd wicket but unfortunately things took a U-turn for Mumbai post Ishan Kishan's wicket as MI were reduced from 121/2 to 136/6 in a span of just 15 balls. Yuzvendra Chahal looked dangerous with the ball and almost took a hat-trick for his side, while Kieron Pollard failed to connect any of the deliveries properly with the bat in death overs and thus Mumbai ended up losing their 2nd game of the season despite incredible performances from Bumrah, Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma. Chahal and Prasidh Krishna took two wickets with the ball for RR while others like Boult, Ashwin and Prasidh Krishna had a wicket each for their quota.
