Five-time champions Mumbai Indians have roped in Uttarakhand's Akash Madhwal as replacement for the injured Suryakumar Yadav for the remainder of IPL 2022. Notably, Mumbai are already out of the IPL 2022 Playoffs contention and have two more league matches to play for which Madhwal has been added to the squad.

The 28-year-old is a right-arm medium-fast bowler who has 14 wickets from 11 matches in his List A career so far. He averages 29.78 with the ball with the best bowling figures of 3/57. In addition, Madhwal has 15 wickets in 15 T20 matches, coming at an average of 26.60. The bowler has also been economical in his career as yet and has conceded less than 8 runs an over on an average.

Earlier, MI's star batter Suryakumar Yadav was ruled out of the remaining tournament due to a left forearm muscle injury. The same was confirmed in an IPL press release on Monday.
