Liam Livingstone’s thunderous knock ensured a convincing victory for Punjab against Chennai. CSK invited Punjab to bat first and at one stage they reduced them to 14/2, but post that it was an absolute carnage from Livingstone which ensured Chennai had no way to make a comeback into the game for first 10 overs. Livingstone’s 60 from 32 balls gave the much needed momentum to reach a good total of 180. At one stage, PBKS were looking too dangerous to go past 200 runs but CSK bowlers pulled back the game very well in end overs to restrict them to 180.
In the chase, CSK completely crumbled under pressure as they lost 4 wickets inside the powerplay with scores of Gaikwad, Ali and Jadeja being 1, 0 & 0 respectively. Vaibhav Arora was impressive with the ball 2/12 (3) in powerplay overs. He picked the wicket of in-form batters Uthappa and Moeen Ali for a duck. For CSK, only Shivam Dube provided some hope as he smashed 57 runs from 30 balls. At a stage when it looked like Dube would carry the game away from Punjab, Livingstone picked the crucial wicket of Dube and Bravo on back-to-back deliveries. In middle and end overs, Rahul Chahar controlled the game beautifully for PBKS and he ended up picking 3 wickets for 25 runs overall including the key wicket of MS Dhoni at the end.
