The Indian Premier League (IPL) is here. While the excitement around the first match is still fresh and far from over, as everyone knows this will be a hectic schedule not only for the cricketers but even for the fans who need to be ready for a heavy dose of cricketing action this weekend.

After the IPL 2022 opener between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Saturday is the day of the doubleheader. While the afternoon game will be played between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, the evening clash is the one between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In this article, Team SportsTiger will make some predictions related to match number 3 of IPL 2022 between PBKS and RCB set to be played at Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

1. Toss

Punjab are predicted to win the toss.

2. Win Possibility

Win possibility meter is tilted in favour of Bangalore.

3. Team of the Day

With Bangalore dominating in the win possibility meter, they also happen to be the team of the day.

4. Powerplay score

The average powerplay score by Punjab Kings in IPL 2021 was 42.50. This year they will play in great stroke-making conditions on red-soil wickets. Hence the average score is likely to go up, given the fact that both PBKS openers Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan have been in great form in IPL in recent years with Agarwal even being trusted with the responsibility of being the skipper. At number 3, somebody like a Liam Livingstone is slotted to come in, so they can easily get over 45 runs.

Similarly, RCB too can cross that mark. They were scoring over 47 runs on an average in IPL 2021 inside the powerplay and could follow in the same fashion with Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli both surely coming in to bat in the top 3. However, with Virat usually a bit watchful before unleashing his full range of strokes and even Du Plessis playing a similar role with CSK in a few games, they could end up with less than 45.

Meanwhile, the average powerplay score in DY Patil Stadium in the last 5 matches is 44.4, another stat that backs the claim of both sides scoring around 45 runs.

5. First innings & Second innings scores

This is one of the low-scoring venues out of the four stadiums which are hosting the league stage of IPL 2022. The average first innings total here in the last five matches is 148.4. In contrast, the average second batting second in the last five matches is 146.2. What this also means is that batting first here may not be that bad an idea here although teams could still look to chase.
