In a day's time, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to kickstart. It will be the defending champions Chennai Super Kings taking on last year finalists Kolkata Knight Riders on March 26 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The opening fixture will see new captains at the the helm with MS Dhoni also passing on the baton to Jadeja.

Sources close to SportsTiger confirmed that the Playoffs of the Indian Premier League will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. However, the teams will play across four venues during the league stage, that is, Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, DY Patel & MCA Stadium.

But the call on playoff venues was to be taken later with the sources have confirmed that the business end of the competition will be staged at the world's largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad.

In an ideal situation, the organisers would also be hoping for a packed house for these fixtures but a call on what percentage of the stadium should be open to fans will depend upon the COVID-19 situation in the country as the dates for the Playoff games draw close.

With 74 matches being played during the course of the tournament, 20 league matches will be played at the Wankhede Stadium. In addition, the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Numbai will also host 20 league games. The Brabourne Stadium, near the Wankhede, as well as the MCA Stadium at the outskirts of Pune, will host 15 league matches each.
