RCB winning the toss opted to bowl first and delivered a terrific bowling display against Knight Riders as they bundled them for just 128 runs. Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel and Akash Deep’s impressive skills with the ball totally destroyed the Kolkata batting line-up. Only Andre Russell managed to smash 25 runs in this innings for Kolkata and unexpected 10th wicket partnership from Varun Chakravarthy and Umesh Yadav helped them to post a good total on board. Harshal Patel’s two maiden overs played a key role to restrict Kolkata’s batting line-up along with Hasaranga’s four-wicket haul.

RCB in chase were looking shaky at the start as they lost 3 quick wickets inside 3 overs itself, but David Willey and Sherfane Rutherford’s solid partnership helped them to stabilize their team’s batting and ensured they were on track in this chase. Umesh Yadav was breathing fire in his first two overs and as a result he ended up picking the key wicket of Virat Kohli. Kolkata were giving tough fight with tough spells from Tim Southee and Sunil Narine but the batsman waited till the end and targeted Andre Russell’s over to chase this moderate target. Shahbaz Ahmed’s brilliant innings along with great finish from Harshal Patel and Dinesh Karthik helped RCB to register their first win in IPL 2022 under Faf’s captaincy.
