Pretty speechless about this one: Finn Allen on joining Royal Challengers Bangalore

New Zealand’s wicket-keeper batsman Finn Allen, who recently replaced Josh Philippe in RCB’s squad, has expressed his excitement to be a part of IPL 2021. In an Instagram post, Allen stated, “Pretty speechless about this one @royalchallengersbangalore at this years @iplt20 Can’t wait to get stuck in with some of the worlds best.”

KKR player Tim Seifert also congratulated his fellow Kiwi cricketer.

Batsman Robin Uthappa, who is set to play for CSK in this edition of the IPL said that he would prefer to play as an opener. The former Rajasthan Royals' player said that the opening position suits his style of batting and he thrives on it.

“I would definitely like to play as an opener. It is where I naturally thrive. Getting the team off to a good start and winning matches for the team is what I am most comfortable doing. In the last few years, people have tried to use me in positions that I am not necessarily good at. It is probably why you have seen a dip in performance. But whenever I have opened the batting, I have done really well,” said Uthappa.

Delhi Capitals picked youngsters Manimaran Siddharth and Ripal Patel during the IPL mini-auction. Now both cricketers are eagerly waiting to learn from Australian legend Ricky Ponting and DC skipper Shreyas Iyer.

"The Delhi Capitals has been a really good team. DC were the runners-up last season. Most of the players in the squad play for their respective international teams. RCB has named Finn Allen as replacement for Josh Philippe. After receiving a sudden call-up from Kiwi head coach and also the Director of Operations at RCB Mike Hesson, Allen replied, "He asked if I was interested in coming and I was like, you don’t even need to ask me that one – it’s my dream come true. It’s so exciting and pretty surreal. I couldn’t really believe it. It took a while to settle in and now with all the media and everything it’s kicking in how real it all is.”

CEO Kashi Vishwanathan on Thursday confirmed that Suresh Raina will be joining the camp around March 21. " He has some personal commitments and taken permission from the team for joining a bit late," quoted Kashi to Insidesport.co. "We are eagerly waiting for him and looking forward to joining us," he added.
