India and Ireland are against each other in the second and final fixture of the bilateral series at The Village, Dublin. The Indian team posted a total of 226 on the board, on the back of superlative knocks from Deepak Hooda (104 off 57) and Sanju Samson (77 off 42).

The Ireland team had a great start with the experienced players, Paul Stirling (40 off 18) and Andrew Balbirnie (60 off 37) setting a platform for the middle-order to chase down the score. All the paces went for plenty to concede 100+ runs in 10 overs.

In the 12th over of the Ireland innings, Axar Patel delivered a half-volley to Harry Tector, who hit a firm lofted shot straight down the wicket. However, Patel tried to catch the ball, but it deflected from his right hand towards umpire Jareth McCready’s right thigh. Although the first reaction showed a stern blow, he was smiling and having a brief chat with the Indian players.

Interestingly, McCready is standing in his debut international men’s game as an umpire. On June 14, he was the on-field umpire in the game between Ireland Women and South Africa Women. Earlier this year, he was elevated to the Cricket Ireland International Umpire Panel and has also been an Irish player as well.
