It wasn't the ideal start to Day 5 for the Indian Team at the Green Park in Kanpur as fast bowler Ishant Sharma sustained an injury in the first over of the day. The over was being bowled by Ravichandran Ashwin and Ishant was fielding at the backward square leg where he had to dive in to stop the ball in the very first delivery of the day.

While the lanky speedster did a good job as far as the fielding is concerned, he jammed his little finger into the ground in the process of doing so. Post that, Ishant was seen in a lot of pain as the commentators on the air suggested that it could be a case of a dislocated finger.

Ishant left the field straight away and an official update from the BCCI's medical team is awaited.

Wriddhiman Saha does not take the field due to neck stiffness

In another update, wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha has yet again not taken the field due to a stiff neck. Although he scored an unbeaten half-century on Day 4, he was experiencing some discomfort even while batting and later had to make way for KS Bharat after Saha left the field while keeping.

On Day 5, Saha did not turn up at the field itself much like on Day 3 where in his absence, Bharat had done a commendable job behind the stumps and grabbed more or less every opportunity coming his way.

Who will Virat Kohli replace in Mumbai?

Notably, India and New Zealand are meeting for the Tests after a three-match T20I series where the Men in Blue completed a clean sweep. After the Kanpur Test, the sides will head to Mumbai for the second Test- the final fixture of New Zealand's tour of India.

Prior to the Mumbai test, Virat Kohli is set to join the Indian team and be back at the helm of affairs as the captain but Shreyas Iyer's hundred in his maiden Test in the first innings and a gritty 65 in the second innings has now made it interesting to see who Kohli will replace in the team in Mumbai with Ajinkya Rahane particularly short of runs under his belt in recent matches.
