Karun Nair has been one of those unlucky cricketers who have failed to live up to their reputation. He has not performed what people would have expected from him. After scoring a brilliant triple hundred in Test cricket, he could not capitalize even there. Also, in IPL, Nair has failed to deliver for his franchise over the years.

He has played for five franchises including his new franchise Rajasthan Royals but has failed to impress. Now, he has returned to Royals for one more stint and looking to make the most of the opportunity provided to him. Nair got candid about his struggles in the past and why he has not garnered success in T20 cricket. He explained that he has never been the main guy in any T20 team and also, whenever he has performed, someone else has also done well.

“In my opinion, the reason behind that is that I’ve never been the kind of a main player in a team in T20 cricket. If you see, whenever I score runs, there’s someone else who scores better in the same match (laughs),” Nair said in a press release issued by Rajasthan Royals.

"On a more serious note, why people don’t see me as a T20 specialist is because I’ve been asked to play different kind of roles over the years, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But I’m hoping to have a great season with the Royals and just focus on whatever I’m told to do,” he added.

Can't wait to reconnect with Sanju Samson: Karun Nair

The Karnataka cricketer further spoke about how excited he is to reconnect with his old buddy, RR skipper Sanju Samson. Nair remembered the good times he shared with Samson on the field and wants to recreate those partnerships. "I’ve always loved playing with Sanju so I can’t wait to reconnect with him on the ground. We’ve had some really good partnerships over the years and I’m really happy to know Sanju, along with Kumar (Sangakkara) and Zubin (Bharucha), have shown the faith in me to bring me back into the team,” he said.
