After a short pause in 2022, Japan Premier League is all set to treat cricket fans with its 2022 edition as the highly competitive tournament is set to commence on 29 April 2022. The five-team T20 league will have its final game on 01 May 2022. All the matches of JPL 2022 will be played at Sano International Cricket Ground. The five teams participating in the tournament will represent East, West, South and North Kanto as well as Kansai.

In 2022, Japan's premier T20 domestic tournament was postponed midway after two matches due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but this year Japan Cricket Association brought back the JPL, which is the highest domestic cricket league in Japan.

Each of the five teams will play against each other once before the top two qualify to play in the final. South Canto Super Kings are the strongest unit in the tournament, having won 4 titles already. They will be starting as hot favourites to win the upcoming Japan T20 League.
