Ex-Man United Jesse Lingard has been slammed by Simon Jordan for ‘flushing his last three years’ and for his off-field antics. The talkSPORT host has said that Lingard wasted the opportunities he had and was rather busy doing something else. Notably, Lingard left Manchester United at the end of his contract last month. With this, Lingard’s 11-year stay with the club that saw him win an FA cup, League Cup, and Europa League came to an end.

Lingard also has enjoyed a decent national outing as the attacking midfielder has scored six goals in 32 games till date for the three lions including a memorable strike against Panama in the 2018 World Cup. Despite this, Jordan looked disappointed with the 29-year-old and slammed Lingard for wasting opportunities.

“He has taken three years of his career and flushed it because he's not accepted that he's not really regarded highly enough at Man United to get in their team. 'He had an opportunity to go to West Ham and he's made it about finances. He's run down his contract so he can leave on a free contract because he knows that will put his wage packet on a certain level,” said Simon Jordan on his talkSPORT show.

Lingard to move to MLS

With the 29-year-old roaming as a free agent, Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs are reported to be interested in signing the English player. Premier League clubs including West Ham and Everton are also being linked with Lingard. Meanwhile, the 29-year-old is believed to be showing no signs of hurry as he is keeping all his options open.

“Lingard has left Manchester United as a free agent and is being chased by Premier League clubs including West Ham and Everton. Two MLS sides are also interested and are set to meet the 29-year-old and his representatives to pitch what have been described as ‘ground-breaking’ deals,” ESPN reported a few days ago.
