The third day of the ongoing World Test Championship between India and New Zealand got off to a thrilling start on Sunday. As Kyle Jamieson wreaked havoc with his outstanding spell of bowling, Team India suffered a horrendous batting collapse in Southampton. Interestingly, the word "jinxed" was trending on Twitter during India's first innings.

While one would think that it was because of Ajinkya Rahane missing out on a well-made half-century, it was not actually the truth. So what led to the same on Sunday?

Fans flood Twitter with "Jinxed" tweets

The commentators have notably been full of praise of New Zealand fielding, especially slip catching as they have grabbed some brilliant catches in the region. However, the Kiwis finally made a mistake when Tim Southee dropped a catch in slips after Ravindra Jadeja edged a delivery off Trent Boult. As a result, the netizens took notice of how the catching of Kane Williamson's side was jinxed by Twitterati and commentators.

The fans were also quick to point out Harsha Bhogle's tweet which stated, "These Kiwis don't drop anything in the slips." On the other hand, one Twitter user urged everyone to stop trending the word and asked them to watch the game quietly instead.
