In a shocking turn of events, the three-match ODI series between Pakistan and West India has been postponed to June 2022 in the light of several players amongst the visiting squad being found positive for the COVID-19.

In a statement released by Pakistan Cricket Board, it was informed that as part of the PCB COVID-19 Protocols, Rapid Antigen tests were conducted on the remaining 15 West Indies players and six-player support personnel and they were all negative.

However, PCB informed that taking into consideration both the teams’ welfare as well as limited resources in the West Indies side for the ODIs, the boards have decided to postpone the ODI series and reschedule for early June 2022.

As per the release, the West Indies team members, who returned negative results following Wednesday’s PCR and today’s Rapid Antigen tests, will depart from Pakistan after the ongoing third T20I in Karachi. However, those who have tested positive will complete their isolation in Karachi before their travel arrangements are finalized.

Meanwhile, all members of the Pakistan contingent have also returned negative tests.

Pakistan has crushed West India in the first two matches of the 3-match T20I series, while the third match is still going on at the time of writing this copy.

It’s a blunder from the Pakistan Cricket Board: Danish Kaneria

Speaking on the development, Danish Kaneria exclusively talked to SportsTiger and criticised PCB for ignoring COVID-19 protocols. “It’s a blunder from the Pakistan Cricket Board for ignoring strict Covid protocols and letting the safety of players in danger”, Kaneria said.

“At the time when boards are organizing all kinds of series, PCB failed to hold a bilateral series and they had to postpone it. “ICC must look into the matter and monitor the board’s preparation before the series begins,” he further added.
