Rajasthan Royals have suffered a major blow ahead of the start of second phase of IPL 2021 in UAE. One of the most experienced players of the side in the form of Jos Buttler has pulled out of this season as the English player and his wife Louise are expecting a second child.

"Jos Buttler will not be part of the remainder of #IPL2021, as he and Louise are expecting a second child soon. We wish them well, and can't wait for the newest member of the #RoyalsFamily," Rajasthan Royals said in their statement on Twitter.

RR announce the replacement of Buttler in style

The franchise have also announced the replacement of Jos Buttler with a cheeky post of logo of 'Philips'. Everyone was quick to understand that RR were hinting towards the signing of versatile Kiwi player Glenn Phillips, who has been knocking the doors of various IPL franchises for quite some time with his performances in T20 cricket.

RR confirm  the signing of Glenn Phillips

Just a few minutes after creating a buzz around social media, the franchise confirmed the signing of Glenn Phillips with a Fabrizio Romano-style 'Here we go' post. "See you soon in Pink," read the caption as Rajasthan Royals secure the services of an extremely talented cricketer for rest of the season.

Phillips could prove to be X-Factor signing for RR

Glenn Phillips is one of the most highly-rated cricketers in the shortest format of the game. The 24-year-old batsman has already gone on to become one of the most crucial players for New Zealand in T20Is, having scored 506 runs in 25 matches at a staggering strike-rate of 149.7. The right-handed batsman also has a T20I century to his name, which came against West Indies in November 2020. Phillips had scored 108 runs off 51 deliveries in a breathtaking knock in Mount Maunganui.

Talking about his recent form, Phillips guided Welsh Fire to a thrilling win in 'The Hundred' with his outstanding 35-ball 80-run knock against London Spirit on Wednesday. With a perfect combination of experience and youth, the Kiwi cricketer might prove to be the X-Factor signing for RR going into the second half of season.
