Start of first ODI between New Zealand and Pakistan delayed after 3 NZ players test positive

Pakistan were scheduled to play against New Zealand in the three-match ODI series, starting Friday.

The start of the first ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand has been delayed due to COVID-19 cases in the New Zealand camp. 3 players from the New Zealand team have reportedly tested positive. Players and support staff have been asked to stay in their hotel rooms. Even the fans have not been allowed to enter the stadium. According to reports in Pakistani media, the New Zealand Cricket team refused to travel to ground due to security concerns.

It is worth noting that Pakistan were scheduled to play against New Zealand in the three-match ODI series, starting Friday, followed by five-match T20I series. Notably, this is the first time since 2003 that New Zealand toured Pakistan.
