There is always a problem of plenty as far as the selection of the Indian cricket team is concerned. While the selectors, as well as the team management, strive to find the perfect balance in the squad when they select a team, they only have limited vacancies in the squad which leads to disappointment for other players. As India’s squad for the T20I series against New Zealand was announced, among several other names that were missing was Sanju Samson.
The team already had two wicketkeeper batters in Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan and that could have perhaps left no space for a third option in Samson with KL Rahul also capable of donning the gloves if required. Moreover, there is a plethora of top-order and middle-order batters in the side with the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer all waiting for their chances.
However, that being said the fans did not agree to the selection and they demanded the Rajasthan Royal’s skipper be included in the side. #JusticeForSanjuSamson began trending on Twitter.

Hours after the team was announced, Samson posted a collage of pictures of himself producing some brilliant fielding efforts, probably hinting to the selectors that he could have made it to the team as a pure batter, given his credentials as a fielder. He chose not to caption his post at all.
Here is what he tweeted:

While Samson could not lead his franchise to the Playoffs in this edition of the Indian Premier League, the players are all set to get jumbled up next year with the mega auctions coming up as well as two new teams – Lucknow and Ahmedabad – entering the auction room. And media report had suggested that while he was at the helm of affairs with the Rajasthan-based franchise this year, he could be donning Chennai Super Kings colours next year. This is being speculated after Samson apparently unfollowed Rajasthan Royals on their social media page while following Chennai Super Kings.
The Men in Yellow might be looking for a wicketkeeper batter with MS Dhoni at the twilight of his career and Samson could be a good bet. However, no concrete development has happened in this regard.
