Despite winning their must win game against England, South Africa were unfortunate to get knocked out of T20 World Cup 2021 semi-final race. Their Net Run Rate was low when compared to other two teams - Australia and England in their group. After winning the toss, England invited South Africa to bat first, and the Proteas posted a solid total of 189/2 with the help of Rassie van der Dussen's 94*(60) and quick-fire fifty from Aiden Markram in just 24 balls. For South Africa to qualify, they had to restrict England to 131 runs or below.
