Kieron Pollard became the third player in the history of international cricket to smash 6 sixes in an over. The all-rounder achieved the feat on March 3, 2021 during a T20I match against Sri Lanka. Pollard challenges 'Universe Boss' to equal his record

After Pollard became the first West Indies player to hit 6 sixes in an over, he has now challenged his teammate Chris Gayle to repeat the feat. Gayle's IPL franchise Punjab Kings revealed about Pollard's exciting challenge on Twitter.

It would be really interesting to see if Gayle accepts the challenge and try to achieve this feat during IPL 2021. The explosive face-off between the two Windies cricketers will also be something to watch out for as Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings lock horns on April 23 (Chennai) and May 13 (Bengaluru) in the upcoming season of the mega-tournament.

Can Gayle hit 6 sixes in an over?

The 41-year-old is undoubtedly one of the most explosive cricketers of all time. Last season, Gayle became the first batsman to hit 1000 sixes in the history of T20 cricket. With all kinds of records in his illustrious career, the Jamaican would certainly want to add the '6 sixes record' to his tally before retirement.

Earlier this year, Gayle had himself claimed that he can achieve the historic feat. As quoted by Hindustan Times, Chris Gayle had said, “It’s very much possible to hit sixes. So, if six is possible and Yuvraj has done it before so why can’t I do it. Yes, you, I anybody can do that.”

Notably, Gayle came close to achieving this feat in IPL 2012 when he smashed leg-spinner Rahul Sharma for 5 sixes in an over. After being challenged by Pollard, we can certainly expect the Universe Boss to go a step ahead and produce a magical 'Gayle Storm' in IPL 2021.
