Team India resumed its national duty against South Africa in a five-match T20I home series. While seniors like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah were already rested from the series after the month-long IPL 2022, KL Rahul, who was appointed skipper for the fixtures against the Proteas, got ruled out a day before the start of the series due to a groin injury.

In a recent development, it is now being reported that KL Rahul might miss the one-off Test match against England, scheduled for next month. Notably, Rahul is currently going through rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. In his absence, wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant is leading the Men in Blue, while all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been appointed as Pant's deputy.

According to Cricbuzz's report, Rahul's diagnosis is yet to be complete and sources have indicated that his participation in the red-ball match is doubtful, while there is no confirmation if he will have to skip the white-ball game as well. In another development, reports have suggested that Men in Blue will fly off for England in two groups.

“The first batch of the Indian team will fly to England on Friday (June 16) and another batch, including coach Rahul Dravid, Pant and Shreyas Iyer, on June 20,” the report further said.

The one-off Test rescheduled match will be played from July 1 to 5. This is the final Test match of their previous tour which was postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak in the Indian camp. Notably, India leads the inconclusive series 2-1.
