India have left behind the disappointment of the T20 World Cup with already having clinched the home T20I series against New Zealand with a match to go. And now the Men in Blue is likely to give an opportunity to members of the squad who have warmed the benches thus far and who could add real value to the side keeping in mind the next World Cup in 2022.

In view of the same, KL Rahul is likely to be rested for the final T20I at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata which will have no significance as far as the fate of the series is concerned. Rahul is also part of the Test squad and will get a bit of a breather before boarding the flight to Kanpur for the first Test match. In his absence, India have the likes of Ishan Kishan as well as Ruturaj Gaikwad who can be tried at the top but Ishan seems to be ahead in the race for now.

Will Yuzvendra Chahal get a game at Eden Gardens?

Other than KL Rahul, another Test regular Ravichandran Ashwin could also be handed a rest to try and give a comeback back to Yuzvendra Chahal who has been waiting eagerly in the wings for his chance. Ashwin will also play a key role in India's Test series and could be given time to recover and be prepared for the red-ball games.

While Venkatesh Iyer was included in the team as an all-rounder he is yet to bowl a single over so far in the series and with the result decided, skipper Rohit Sharma could go to him and see what he has in store in international cricket with the ball.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was outstanding in the first match and was disappointing in the second but is likely to be given the final match of the series. Avesh Khan is another player who the team management would want to try out but who he replaces in the XI, if at all he makes his debut would make for an interesting decision.
