India's campaign at the 2022 Korea Open ended with PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth's defeats in their respective semifinal games. While Sindhu went down to the second seed An Seyoung, Srikanth lost to the third seed Indonesian Jonatan Christie. Two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu was defeated in 48 minutes. This was the 26-year-old Indian shuttler's fourth successive defeat against World Number 4 Seyoung.

Sindhu had come into the tournament after clinching the Swiss Open. She had defeated USA's Lauren Lam in her opening game. She had then outperformed Aya Ohori in the pre-quarters. Sindhu overcame a tough challenge from the Thai shuttler Busanan Ongbamrungphan in the quarterfinals clash to set herself against An Seyoung. But third-seeded Sindhu was outclassed by the Korean in straight games. The 20-year-old beat Sindhu 21-14, 21-17 in 48 minutes.

Sindhu was kept at bay by the Korean shuttler with her agility and precision right from the start. Seyoung made Sindhu sweat hard for each point as she displayed her attacking as well as defensive skills. The Indian tried to make a comeback in the second game as she reeled off three points on the trot after being 14-18 down to keep the match alive. But Seyoung was smart enough to not let the match slip from her grasp.
