Chris Lynn didn’t take long to impress Mumbai Indians fans as he made a blistering start with a quickfire 35-ball 49. The Australian power-hitter looked in good touch and played some exquisite shots during his entertaining knock. Lynn was part of the MI squad in 2020 too but did not get to play a single match. He got an opportunity to play the opening match because Mumbai's preferred first-choice opener Quinton de Kock was serving his mandatory quarantine.

"Happy birthday to our very own Johnny"

The MI squad celebrated the birthday of opener Chris Lynn on Saturday, who had missed his half-century by just one run on his MI debut. MI shared a video on their social media yesterday to give a sneak peek of the birthday celebrations. However, there was a hilarious moment when Krunal Pandya cheekily called Chris Lynn as 'Johnny Sins'. Notably, Johnny Sins looks very similar to Chris Lynn.

During the birthday celebrations, Krunal Pandya cheered on boisterously and said, "Happy birthday to our very own Jonny." Other players were also heard saying 'Johnny' during the celebrations. All the players enjoyed the occasion and were seen in a cheerful mood. Chris Lynn has earlier himself admitted that he prefers Johnny Sins as his look-a-like.

Mumbai Indians will bounce back sooner rather than later: Lynn

Meanwhile, the swashbuckling opener expressed confidence that Mumbai Indians will bounce back from their defeat to RCB very soon. He said, "No excuses, we have got a great bunch of guys. We are going to bounce back sooner rather than later.” Lynn added that it was a special moment to put on the Mumbai Indians’ blue cap as MI are one of the proudest and most successful franchises around the world.

Thanks to Steyn for his positive encouragement, says Jansen

Mumbai Indians all-rounder Marco Jansen made his IPL debut on Friday and returned with impressive figures of 2-28 from his four overs. After the game, Steyn had tweeted, "Well done tonight Marco Jansen! May have lost but you can be very proud." Jansen thanked Dale Steyn for watching the match and saying good things about him after seeing him play in season opener.

"I am thankful to Steyn for watching the game and also making good comments on Twitter. I am personally not on Twitter but I am very happy that I have made a positive impact to the team," Jansen said after the match.
